The team of Jalandhar Potato Growers Association (J.P.G.A.) visited Nirmal Kutiya Seechewal to hand over an invitation letter to Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal, inviting him to attend the 10th J.P.G.A. Kisan Mela as the chief guest. During this occasion, Sant Seechewal emphasized that major changes are needed in agriculture today so that farmers can benefit more from their farming practices. He noted that this is only possible if we engage with agricultural experts and farmers to acquire advanced thinking.
Sant Seechewal further stated that the upcoming Kisan Mela, scheduled for December 8-9 at Nakodar’s new Dhana Mandi, will see the participation of prominent agricultural experts, leading farmers, seed and fertilizer companies, as well as machinery manufacturers. This would be a great opportunity for the farmers of Punjab to benefit from the latest agricultural advancements and practices.
He also suggested to the J.P.G.A. team that Punjab was once famous for peanut cultivation, and now it would be useful to organize seminars on peanut farming as a part of the changing agricultural landscape. This would help farmers to increase their knowledge and productivity.
During the event, the J.P.G.A. team, including Vice President Ashvinderpal Singh Khaira, Committee members Tegha Singh, Chanchal Singh, and Balraj Singh, presented Sant Seechewal with a cheque of ₹5 lakh for flood relief efforts. This amount was donated by a charitable trust for the welfare of people affected by the recent floods.
Tegha Singh explained that the Kisan Mela, originally scheduled for September, was canceled due to the floods, but at that time, the J.P.G.A. team decided to focus on helping flood-affected people. As part of this initiative, Sant Seechewal has been continuously working to level flood-affected lands in the Mand Baupura region for wheat sowing. The J.P.G.A. team contributed ₹5 lakh to this cause, and further relief services will continue in the future.
The event was also attended by local leaders, including Sarpanch Jogga Singh Chakchela, Suba Singh, Satnam Singh, Mandeep Singh, Hardev Singh Lali Wada Jageer, and Lakhwinder Singh Mally.
