A high-level review meeting of bank officials and representatives of various government departments was held at the Meeting Hall, Administrative Complex, Kapurthala. The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Commissioner Akash Bansal.
During the meeting, the banking performance of the district for the quarter ending March 2026 was thoroughly reviewed. Under the Annual Credit Plan (ACP) 2025-26, banks in the district demonstrated outstanding performance by not only achieving their set targets but exceeding them to record a commendable achievement rate of 113.04% amounting to Rs. 7,444.73 Crores.
Appreciating this milestone, the Deputy Commissioner motivated the banking sector to maintain this excellent momentum in the current financial year.
Key Directives Issued by the Deputy Commissioner
Availability across Public & Private Banks: The Deputy Commissioner clarified that all welfare and central flagship government schemes are fully operational and available across private sector banks as well, not just public sector ones. Citizens can approach any functional bank branch in the district to avail of these benefits.
Timely Disposal of Sponsored Loans: DC Akash Bansal strictly instructed bank officials to clear all loan applications sponsored by government departments within the timeframes stipulated by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Timely disposal ensures that credit reaches beneficiaries swiftly, enabling them to start or expand their ventures without delay. He emphasized that under no circumstances should any sponsored loan case remain pending in the banks.
Focus on Key Government Schemes:
The DC stressed maximizing the reach of flagship schemes to promote employment, entrepreneurship, and financial stability. He specifically highlighted:
MUDRA Yojana: To boost self-employment by providing collateral-free micro-loans to small business owners.
PM SVANidhi: To support street vendors with working capital loans for self-reliance.
CGTMSE (MSME Credit Guarantee): To empower small and medium enterprises with collateral-free credit facilities.
Kisan Credit Card (KCC): To ensure seamless credit flow to farmers and animal husbandry workers.
Employment & Education Schemes: Special emphasis was placed on implementing:
PMEGP (Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme): To support the establishment of new micro-enterprises.
PM Vishwakarma: To provide holistic support to traditional artisans and craftspeople.
Stand-Up India: To promote entrepreneurship among women and SC/ST communities.
Central Sector Interest Subsidy (CSIS) Scheme: To alleviate the financial burden of higher education loans for students from economically weaker sections.
Saturation of Social Security Schemes: While praising the progress made under various Central Government Social Security Schemes, the DC called upon banks to work toward 100% saturation.
Zero-Tolerance for Customer Grievances: To ensure a premium banking experience for the public, banks were instructed to bring customer complaints down to zero level.
Public Notice on Loan Disbursement Grievances: If any member of the public faces arbitrary delays, issues, or harassment regarding the disbursement of loans under these schemes, they are advised to contact the Lead Bank Office directly. Citizens can get in touch with Lead District Manager Kawaljit Singh and RSETI Director Sonia Kakkar to get their grievances resolved immediately.
The meeting saw active participation from key officials, included Lead District Manager (LDM) Kawaljit Singh, DDM NABARD Jasminder Singh Bindra, LDO, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Divyanshu and district coordinators of all functional banks and senior officers from various government departments were present to align their efforts for the district’s economic growth
