Four Youths Drowned on Baisakhi in Kapurthala, Two Dead, Rescue Operation Ongoing*

Four youths reportedly drowned in the Beas River near village Berowal in Kapurthala during the Baisakhi festival. Upon receiving information about the incident, the Fattudhinga police arrived at the spot and, with the help of divers, initiated a rescue operation.

Fattudhinga SHO Sonamdeep Kaur confirmed that two of the youths were rescued and sent to the Civil Hospital in Kapurthala. However, divers are still searching for the remaining two. As of the time this report was written, the rescue operation was ongoing. SHO Sonamdeep also stated that the NDRF team has reached the site to assist with the operation.

On the other hand, Dr. Siddharth Bindra, who was on duty at the Civil Hospital, stated that the two youths brought in had already died by the time they reached the hospital. He added that after the families of the deceased submitted a written statement opting not to pursue legal action, the bodies were handed over to them.

The deceased have been identified as 17-year-old Arshdeep Singh, son of Manpreet Singh, and Jaspal Singh, son of Karamjeet Singh — both residents of the village of Peeranwal. Meanwhile, search efforts are ongoing for Vishal, son of Manpreet Singh, and Gurpreet Singh, son of Mahinderpal Singh, also from Peeranwal village.

As of the latest update, the rescue operation in the Beas River by the Fattudhinga police and the divers is still in progress.
