Highlights government’s development and welfare initiatives, reaches out to people and listens to their concerns
Every family getting annual benefits worth Rs 1.82 lakh through free power, healthcare, education and Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna
Phagwara, September 23: Member Parliament Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal on Wednesday launched the door-to-door outreach campaign under the banner ‘Mann De Munafe’ in the Phagwara, reaching out to residents across various wards and interacting with them face-to-face.
During the interactions, Dr Chabbewal highlighted the Punjab Government’s initiatives and development works undertaken since 2022, covering sectors including health, education, roads, social security, sports, rural infrastructure, agriculture, irrigation and employment. He said that under campaign, the government was taking the its four-and-a-half-year report card directly to people’s homes. Highlighting the financial benefits of the government’s work, he said every family was receiving an annual benefit of Rs 1.82 lakh through initiatives including free electricity, healthcare, education and Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna.
Highlighting the electricity relief being provided to domestic consumers, Dr Chabbewal said that under the provision of 300 units of free electricity per month, more than 90 per cent of domestic consumers were receiving zero electricity bills. He also highlighted the government’s financial assistance initiatives for women, stating that eligible women under the general category were being provided Rs 1,000 per month, while eligible SC women were receiving Rs 1,500 per month, besides the provision of free bus travel facilities for women.
Dr Chabbewal said the government had significantly expanded public healthcare through more than 1,090 Aam Aadmi Clinics, besides strengthening health infrastructure in government hospitals. He also highlighted the Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana, under which beneficiaries are provided cashless treatment up to Rs 10 lakh, as part of efforts to make quality healthcare more accessible to people. In the education sector, he highlighted the establishment of Schools of Eminence aimed at providing students with quality education and better learning opportunities.
On sports infrastructure, he said that thousands of new sports facilities, including 3,100 Khed Maidan, had been developed across Punjab to encourage youth participation in sports and promote a healthy and constructive environment. He said the government had also launched ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan’ to provide a wider platform for sporting talent and foster a strong sports culture across the state. He further highlighted initiatives such as ‘Rangla Punjab’ and the government’s anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashyea Virudh’, under which 79,111 drug peddlers had been arrested in 62,361 cases, besides intensified action against gangsters. He also highlighted the strengthening of road networks, expansion of irrigation facilities and efforts to ensure adequate canal water reaches tail-end areas.
Speaking about farmers, Dr Chabbewal said the government had taken steps to improve irrigation facilities and ensure timely payments to farmers following procurement of their crops. He also highlighted the creation of more than 70,000 government jobs and various other welfare initiatives undertaken since 2022. He said the door-to-door campaign would provide an opportunity not only to inform people about government initiatives but also to listen directly to their concerns and suggestions. He said the outreach drive would continue across Phagwara so that every household could be reached.
