MP distributes Sehat Cards at Bhularai; says Rs 10 lakh annual cashless health cover ensuring quality healthcare without financial burden on families

Member Parliament Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal on Wednesday distributed Sehat Cards to eligible beneficiaries of the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna (MMSY).
Highlighting the Punjab government’s flagship health insurance scheme in a over a function at Bhularai village, MP said that more than 1.27 crore Sehat Cards, covering approximately 54.06 lakh families, have been registered under the scheme since its inception, providing eligible families with universal cashless health coverage of up to Rs 10 lakh per family per year through government and empanelled private hospitals across Punjab.
Dr Chabbewal said that as of September 17, 2026, a total of 3,53,397 unique beneficiaries had availed treatment, accounting for 7,20,301 treatment cases. The total value of treatment provided under the scheme has reached Rs 1,300.14 crore, reflecting the scale of healthcare support being extended to families across the state. He said the Punjab Government had accelerated enrolment under MMSY to further expand access to affordable healthcare and reduce the financial burden on families during medical emergencies and major treatments. The scheme covers 2356 treatment packages across 909 empanelled hospitals, including 684 private and 225 public hospitals.
Dr Chabbewal said that beneficiaries could avail themselves of cashless treatment through government and empanelled private hospitals across Punjab. He urged eligible residents who have not yet registered under the scheme to complete their enrolment at the earliest and make use of the healthcare benefits available to them. He said that enrolment could be completed without any prior appointment through Common Service Centres (CSCs), Seva Kendras and government enrolment camps organised in the respective districts. Applicants are required to carry their Aadhaar Card and Voter ID Card for enrolment.
Dr Chabbewal said the scheme was playing an important role in ensuring that families could access quality healthcare without having to worry about the financial burden associated with major medical treatment. He called upon people to make maximum use of the scheme and ensure that eligible members of their families were covered.
