Deputy Commissioner Akash Bansal on Tuesday held a virtual meeting with all Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) and Charge Officers of the district to review preparations for the Phase-II of Census-2027, scheduled to commence in Punjab from December 1, 2026.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed all Charge Officers to ensure that every staff member associated with the Census exercise attends all prescribed training sessions and thoroughly acquainted with the procedures, duties and responsibilities related to the Census work. He stressed the need for proper coordination and advance preparedness to ensure smooth and accurate conduct of the Census.
The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the arrangements being made at the field level and took feedback from the concerned officials regarding the training of enumerators and other staff, data collection procedures, prescribed formats and other operational aspects. He directed the SDMs and Charge Officers to ensure that all personnel are adequately trained and fully familiar with the Census procedures before commencement of field operations.
It was further informed that the second phase of Census in Punjab will be conducted from December 1, 2026, to January 4, 2027, followed by the revision phase from January 5 to January 9, 2027. Enumerators will visit households door-to-door from December 1 to collect the required data. The Self-Enumeration portal will remain open from November 16 to November 30, 2026, enabling citizens to complete their Census enumeration online before the commencement of the field enumeration process.
