Reviews progress of projects across district; asks officials to ensure quality execution and submit Utilization Certificates promptly

Giving a major push to infrastructure development in the district, Deputy Commissioner Akash Bansal on Thursday reviewed the progress of multiple works being executed under the Rangla Punjab Vikas Scheme and directed all concerned departments to complete the projects within the stipulated timeframe so that people can avail the benefits without delay.
Chairing a meeting with officials of the Rural Development and Panchayat Department and other executing agencies, the Deputy Commissioner said the Punjab Government was committed to transforming both rural and urban areas through robust infrastructure and citizen-centric development projects. He emphasized that every sanctioned work must be completed in a time-bound manner while ensuring transparency, quality and optimum utilization of public funds.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that the district has received a grant of Rs 10 crore under the Rangla Punjab Vikas Scheme for carrying out a series of development works in villages as well as urban areas during this financial year. He said the funds were being utilized for strengthening civic infrastructure across the district. The projects include the construction and repair of roads and drains, installation of interlocking tiles, open gyms, solar street lights, development and upgradation of cremation grounds, construction of community halls, Anganwadi Centers, Panchayat Ghars and other public utility infrastructure aimed at improving the quality of life of residents. A total of 260 development works were undertaken, of which 181 have been completed by the officials, while 79 are currently in progress.
Reviewing the project-wise status, the Deputy Commissioner instructed officials to accelerate the pace of execution and ensure that no project is delayed due to administrative or technical reasons. He directed officers to identify and resolve bottlenecks on priority and conduct regular field inspections to monitor the quality and progress of works.
The Deputy Commissioner said that all works should strictly adhere to the approved technical specifications and quality standards. He asserted that accountability at every level is essential for the successful implementation of government schemes. He also instructed the concerned departments to submit Utilization Certificates (UCs) immediately after the completion of works to facilitate timely financial reconciliation and ensure the smooth release of funds for future developmental projects.
Reiterating the district administration’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development, the Deputy Commissioner said that the Rangla Punjab Vikas Scheme was playing a significant role in strengthening civic amenities and creating better public infrastructure across the district. He urged all officers to work in close coordination and ensure that every project is completed efficiently, transparently and within the prescribed timeline.
ADC (Rural Development) Varinder Pal Singh Bajwa and the officials of the Rural Development and Panchayat Department and other concerned departments were also present.
