Residents of Urban Estate Kapurthala which is considered as Kapurthala’s most posh colony have been grappling with many issues may it be the deteriorating condition of the roads. , which has remained neglected for many years. Broken and short walls, stray Dog menace
The road, riddled with pot-holes and scattered gravel, has become a source of inconvenience and danger, especially during rain, despite repeated complaints to the Residential Welfare Society said Dinkar Sangar. He added that the stretch of road connecting bus Urban Estate with Seed Farm Colony, District Administrative complex new Courts catering to heavy traffic throughout the day is in the worst condition . Another road which serves as a crucial link with Urban Estate Temple and a primary school, shops and a gurdwara located along its path needs immediate repair.
Hardeep Singh Kang another resident said that During rain, potholes turn into water-filled craters, making it impossible to judge their depth. Riding a two-wheeler on this road is extremely risky. He even highlighted the issue of stray Dog menace which also add to the fury of residents as often the dogs chase two- wheelers making impossible to escape due pot holes on roads. The alarming rise in stray DOG Population has made it unsafe for children and the elderly person to visit the nearby markets a tray dogs attack has become very frequent
Nirmal Singh a regular commuter said that residents have reported to the welfare society about frequent near miss accidents and health issues due to dust rising from the broken surface but nothing has been done. He even complained that there are many plots and partially constructed houses that are not being maintained and not only give a shabby look but also pose security threat.
Partap Singh a cricket coach said that the children of Urban Estate Kapurthala are very enthusiastic about sport but have been deprived of proper sport facility. He said that there is only one ground in name of sports complex with no boundary wall and daily the children who come to play have to clean the filth left by miscreants.
Anuj Anand Advocate who is President of Urban Estate Welfare Society (Regd.) Kapurthala acknowledged all the issues and said that he has several times raised all the issues before all the officials of Jalandhar Development authority and even the Chief Minister but despite the fact that the officials are cooperative all the major issue like repair or recarpeting of roads boundary wall are pending. He said he will again raise the issues with the concerned officials.
