The English Literary Society of Department of English of Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala, organized an Inter-College Competition, ‘Wordsmiths’ Arena’. The event aimed to provide students with the knowledge of English literature, a competitive spirit and stage experience. More than 100 students from 19 colleges participated in the competition with great enthusiasm. The competitions included Quiz Whiz, PPT on Literary Legends Writing in English, Cultural Confluence – Fusion Dance on English Songs, Poetic Punch, Spell Bee and Role Play. Prof. Sharad Manocha, Associate Professor from the Department of English, DAV College, Jalandhar, was the Keynote Speaker. Shri Tilak Raj Aggarwal, President, College Management Committee presided over the function. Dr. Ritu Gupta, Head, English Department, welcomed the guests and provided detailed information about the program. Prof. Sharad Manocha addressed the students, saying that literature teaches us to live life and provides experiences and inspiration. The winners of the various competitions were felicitated with trophies. In Spell Bee, Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Sultanpur was declared winner and Khalsa College, Amritsar was the Runner-up. In Quiz Whiz, Khalsa College, Amritsar became the winner and Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Jalandhar was the Runner-up. In the event, PPT on Literary Legends, Divishi Verma from DAV College, Jalandhar was declared 1st, Sukhleen Kaur from Hans Raj Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Jalandhar stood 2nd and Prachi Bhardwaj from Khalsa College for Women, Amritsar was on the 3rd position. In Cultural Confluence – Fusion Dance, Khalsa College, Amritsar got the 1st position, Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala was the 2nd position. In the Poetic Punch, Tushar Chadha from DAV College, Jalandhar was declared 1st, Kritika from Hans Raj Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Jalandhar was on the 2nd position. In the Role Play, Agamjot Kaur from Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Jalandhar bagged the 1st position and Rashmi Kashyap from Hans Raj Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Jalandhar was on the 2nd position. Prof. Vimal Sethi, Dr. Shifali Rachna Puri and Mrs. Amandeep Kaur ajudged the various competitions. Dr. Kulwinder Kaur, Officiating Principal thanked the guests and said that such platforms provide students with opportunities to showcase their talents. Dr. Ritu Gupta, Ms. Reena Salota and Ms. Sunaina organized Quiz, Spell Bee and PPT event efficiently.M r. Sanjeev Bhalla, Academic Incharge, all staff members and students were present. Er. Inderjeet Kaur Bal hosted the stage with great efficacy.
