Sports are very important in a student’s life as they prove helpful in physical and mental development. Sports keep the body healthy which prevents diseases.They instill a sense of tolerance, teamwork and co-operation among the students. Sports also have mental benefits as they keep the students stress-free and refresh their minds to further enhance their concentration. Therefore, it is important to include Sports in a student’s life so that his all-round development can take place.
The Annual Sports Day for the session 2024-25 was organized at MGN Public School, Kapurthala on 12th and 13th November with great enthusiasm.
Lt.Col.Mr.Surinder Pal Singh, Officiating CO of 21Punjab Batallion, NCC was the Chief Guest of the day. Mr.Satish Sharma, Former Deputy Director, Sports, Punjab joined us as Guest of Honour. The function started with Ardaas. School Principal, Mrs. Parwinder Kaur Walia and the members of the Sports Department inaugurated the event by hoisting the school flag with taking pledge spoken by the Head Girl Tanisha and releasing colorful balloons symbolizing freedom and happiness.
Various field and track events were conducted for students of different categories. Students participated in various events including 100m, 200m, 400m races, Long jump, Shot put , Relay race etc. Students of the primary section participated enthusiastically in games like Shoes and socks race, Lemon race, Hurdle race etc.
Overall trophy was won by Sahibzada Fateh Singh House and the runner-up trophy was bagged by Sahibzada Zorawar Singh House.The Chief Guest, Lt. Col. Surinder Pal Singh, Guest of Honour Mr Satish Sharma and the Principal, Mrs. Parwinder Kaur Walia honored the winners by giving medals and certificates. Mr.Sanjay Bhatt, HOD, Physical Education Department read Sports Day report. On this occasion, the Chief guest addressed the students and all the staff members with his inspiring words and said that all students should make sports a part of their daily life. He said that sports make the heart and mind strong and also teach moral values to the students.
After this, the students enthralled everyone by presenting a karate show. Vote of thanks was proposed by Head Boy, Anhad Roop Kunwar Singh. Sports Meet ended with the National Anthem.
