Director Census Operations Punjab Dr. Navjot Khosa held a review meeting to assess the preparedness for Census 2027: Phase-II–Population Enumeration in the district on Monday.
Deputy Commissioner Akash Bansal along with Principal Census Officers-cum-Commissioner Kapurthala Municipal Corporation Anupam Kaler and Commissioner, Phagwara Municipal Corporation Randeep Singh Heer, along with all SDMs, Tehsildars, Charge Officers and officials were present during the meeting physically and virtually.
Addressing the meeting, the Director, Census Operations appreciated the diligence and commitment of Charge Officers and field functionaries for the successful and timely completion of Phase-I House Listing and Housing Census (HLO) operations in the district. Stressing the importance of meticulous planning, she directed all officers to ensure completion of the remaining Census activities within the prescribed timelines. She emphasized the need for advanced planning and seamless coordination among all stakeholders to achieve the set targets. She specifically lauded the HLO work undertaken in high-priority charges of the district and in areas under Municipal Corporation Phagwara and Municipal Corporation Kapurthala. She commended the district administration and Census functionaries for their sustained efforts and expressed confidence that district Kapurthala would successfully accomplish all tasks related to Phase-II of Census 2027.
During the meeting, a comprehensive roadmap for the timely and smooth conduct of Population Enumeration Phase-II of Census 2027 was discussed in detail during the meeting.
Reviewing the progress of District Census Handbook (DCHB), the Director directed that all Charge Officers must ensure timely vetting of village and town directory data. She emphasized that the DCHB exercise must be completed in all respects before the stipulated last date of September 8,2026.
She further instructed the Principal Census Officers and Census Officers to make all requisite arrangements and remain fully prepared for the smooth and effective conduct of Population Enumeration.
Deputy Commissioner Akash Bansal assured that all Census-related activities in the district would be completed well within the stipulated timeframe. He stated that the district administration in close coordination with both Municipal Corporations, would extend all necessary support for the successful execution of the exercise. He further reiterated the commitment of the district administration to carry out Census operations efficiently and in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Office of the Registrar General & Census Commissioner, India, to ensure collection of accurate and reliable data.
