Over 50693 applications received in Kapurthala district
Kapurthala, September 18:
Deputy Commissioner Akash Bansal on Friday directed the officials of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs department to expedite the verification of ration card applications received for the new ration cards and addition of new members in the existing ration cards.
Presiding over a meeting, the Deputy Commissioner said that the applications were invited by the Punjab Government from July 22 to August 11, 2026, as part of the process for making new ration cards and adding eligible members to existing ration cards. He said that during the prescribed period, a total of 50,693 applications were received in Kapurthala district. He said that following the directions of the Punjab Government, the district administration had deputed adequate verification manpower to conduct door-to-door verification of the applications. He directed the officials to ensure that the verification process was completed at the earliest while strictly adhering to the prescribed guidelines.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration was carrying out verification in a transparent and systematic manner to ensure that eligible beneficiaries are covered under the Public Distribution System and receive the benefits entitled to them.
