Kapurthala, October 1:
Deputy Commissioner Akash Bansal, along with Kapurthala Improvement Trust Chairman Sajjan Singh Cheema on Thursday held a meeting with officials of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs department and rice millers to seek their wholehearted cooperation in ensuring a smooth and hassle-free paddy procurement season in the district.
During the meeting, representatives of the District Rice Millers Association apprised the Deputy Commissioner and the Chairman of the issues being faced by them.
Taking note of their concerns, Deputy Commissioner Akash Bansal categorically assured the rice millers that the district administration was fully committed to addressing their genuine issues and extending all possible support to them for smooth functioning during the procurement season. He said that the administration would take up the issues with senior officials and all other concerned stakeholders to ensure their early resolution.
The Deputy Commissioner further said that a meeting with Arhtiyas would also be convened in this regard so that the concerns could be resolved through coordinated efforts. He emphasized that the district administration would continue to facilitate all stakeholders associated with the procurement process and ensure that no avoidable difficulty affects the smooth lifting and processing of paddy. He also directed the concerned officials to make all necessary arrangements for additional special rakes to facilitate the smooth and timely movement of procured paddy. The representatives of the Rice Millers assured the district administration of their full cooperation.
