As per the directions of Magistrate-cum- Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Kapurthala, Students’ Legal Literacy Cell of Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala organized an Extension lecture on ‘Victims of Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation’ on 12th November 2024. This initiative was carried to support legal awareness programmes for women and children in need of care and protection and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP). Advocate Ms. Vibhuti Sharma, Assistant, Legal Aid Defense Counsel, Kapurthala, the Resource Person, enlightened students about legal services like POSCO Act and NALSA Scheme, 2015 to protect women and children from their sexual exploitation and human trafficking. Ms. Vibhuti encouraged students to be aware of their personal safety at all places and asked them to seek police and legal protection in the face of any inappropriate situation. Ms. Ramandeep Kaur, Member of the Students’ Legal Literacy Cell welcomed the speaker and paid gratitude to her for delivering an awareness lecture on the pertinent topic as per the today’s scenario. College Principal Dr. Archna Garg appreciated the cell’s initiative for spreading awareness among students regarding their legal rights and services available to safeguard their modesty. Staff and students of the college and collegiate school attended this session.
