“Students must participate in co- academic activities to polish their personality”, rightly quoted by Dr. Nirmal Juara, Director Students’ Welfare, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana in his Extension talk arranged at Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala on the occasion of Talent Hunt Competition. Under the patronage of College President, Shri Tilak Raj Aggarwal, the event was organised on 8th and 9th September 2023. On the 1st day , Off- Stage competitions like Rangoli, Poster Making, On the Spot Painting, Phulkari, Cartooning and Mehandi were conducted. Jyoti of B.A.-3rd Semester, Bhavan of B.A.-1st Semester and Sneha Rana of 10+2( Arts) secured first, second and consolation prizes respectively in Rangoli Competition. Jaskaranpreet Kaur of 10+2( Arts) became the winner of Poster Making Competition. In the events On the Spot Painting , Cartooning and Phulkari, Simranjit Kaur of B.A.- 1st Semester, Parveen Kaur of M.Sc.( FD)- 3rd Semester and Sumandeep Kaur of B.A. -3rd Semester got consolation prizes respectively. In Mehandi Competition, Kiran Kumari of B.A.- 3rd Semester, Gurleen Kaur of B.Com. -3rd Semester, Kumari Shriya of B.Com.- 5th Semester and Sweta Pal of 10+2( Arts) got the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and consolation prizes respectively. On the 2nd day of the event, On-Stage competitions were organised. In Elocution, Anchalpreet Kaur and Karandeep Kaur, both from B.C.A. -1st Semester got 1st and 2nd positions and Prabhpreet Kaur of 10+2( Commerce) got appreciation prize . In the Poetical Recitation, Sukhrajdeep Kaur of B.Com.- 1st Semester and Raihana of 10+2( Arts) bagged 1st and appreciation prizes respectively. In Solo Song event, Amandeep Kaur and Dimple, both from 10+2( Arts) secured 1st and 2nd positions whereas Simran Kaur of B.A.-5th Semester got appreciation prize. In Group Song, Neha and group from college got the 1st position. Shivangi and group from the college and Prabhpreet and group from the school became the winners of the Group Dance event. In Solo Dance, Davinderdeep Kaur of B.Com.- 1st Semester and Khushi of 10+2( Commerce) bagged the 1st and appreciation prizes respectively. In Fancy Dress competition, Manpreet Kaur became the winner. Ranjana of P.G.D.C.A., Khushi of 10+2( Commerce) and Amandeep Kaur of B.Com.- 5th Semester were declared the Best Actors in Skit, Mono Acting and Choreography respectively. Total 173 students participated in these on- stage and off- stage competitions with great zeal and demonstrated their artistic skills enthusiastically. Mrs. Sarika Kanda, Head of Home Science Department, Mrs. Renu Soni, Head, Public Administration Department, Dr. Amanjyoti from History Department, Dr. Paramjit Kaur, Head of the Music Department and Dr. Jasdeep Kaur from the Punjabi Department adjudged the on-stage and off- stage competitions. College Principal, Dr. Archna Garg applauded the winners and coordinators of all events. She also encouraged students to prioritize both academic and co-curricular activities for their overall development. Stage hosting was coordinated by Dr. Jasdeep Kaur, Mrs. Suvit Das, Pragna, Head girl of the college and Diksha of B.Com. 5th semester.
