Acting on the directions of the Election Commission of India (ECI), Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in Kapurthala district have distributed 4,60,536 enumeration forms—around 75 per cent of the total electorate—by 8 pm on the third day of the ongoing door-to-door campaign under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Akash Bansal said the house-to-house drive commenced on Thursday across the district. A total of 791 BLOs have been deployed to cover all 6,14,981 electors in the district’s four Assembly constituencies.
Appealing to citizens to actively participate in the ongoing SIR exercise, Bansal said no eligible voter should be left out of the electoral rolls. He urged electors to fill out the enumeration forms received from BLOs and hand them back during the BLOs’ subsequent visit, while retaining the duplicate copy for their records.
He said each BLO is responsible for approximately 750 to 842 electors. By 8 pm on the third day of the campaign, 4,60,536 forms had already been distributed through house-to-house visits.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that each BLO will visit every household up to three times. If a house is found locked, the enumeration form will be left at the doorstep. Every elector will receive two copies of the pre-printed form—one original and one duplicate. Electors are required to fill in the original form and submit it to the BLO during a subsequent visit. Upon collection, the BLO will issue an acknowledgement, while the duplicate copy will remain with the elector. In the elector’s absence, the form may be handed over to any adult member of the family.
Bansal appealed to electors who do not receive the form to contact their respective BLO using the provided contact number or avail themselves of the “Book a Call with BLO” facility. He also advised voters to verify their electoral details through the ECI and CEO Punjab websites or the ECINET app.
The house-to-house enumeration exercise will continue until July 24, while the rationalisation of polling stations will also be completed by the same date. The draft electoral rolls will be published on August 3, 2026. Claims and objections can be filed from August 3 to September 2, 2026, and will be disposed of between August 3 and September 28, 2026. The final electoral rolls will be published on October 1, 2026.
